Jeremiah 31:34, anyone ? Or Hebrews 8:11, for that matter ?
One would think that, almost 2000 years after Christ died on the cross, His "followers" would have moved on a little and approached a state at least somewhat close to what we find prophesied in Jeremiah, and confirmed in Hebrews:
"And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest" (Jer 31:34; Heb 8:11)
But alas!, instead, Christians all over the world seem to be stuck in the same old details they have been discussing for centuries, and don't seem to get any closer to the truth, despite much study and prayer, as they never fail to claim.
Look online and pick an example - head covering, say. Only recently I came across yet another blog that was discussing the matter at length, and the overwhelming response of the readers was something along the lines of "thank you so much for this post, I have been studying this myself (some more, some less) and am still not sure what to do". We tried to help out a little by commenting and putting some things into perspective that seemed to be confusing to many, but ultimately, people do not wish to hear that the matter is a simple one, mainly one of obedience, and that it would be high time to move on to more substantial matter that, too, haven't been resolved yet.
Why is it that people are still in need of being taught ? Why is it that Christianity hasn't come any closer to the truth, but in fact has drifted further and further away from Yahweh's Law Word ? Well, my suggestion would be that they are not who Jeremiah and the author of the Letter to the Hebrews is talking about when they point out with whom the New Covenant will be made:
"Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah" (Jer 31:31; Heb 8:8)
