Firstly, employment is really nothing else than biblical indentured servitude, only that you don't come out of it free after six years, after being redeemed or in the jubilee year (as a man) or change from a servant to a full wife (if you are a woman), and that now, you have less rights and less protection. Indentured servitude was meant as a means for someone who had nothing, to work for someone, preferably brethren, and after these years to come out of this servitude with enough means to raise or support his own family. Exodus 21:2-11 and Leviticus 25:25-65 give you an idea of how indentured servitude was handled in the Hebrew society.
Nowadays, you just slave away for someone else and earn him money instead of concentrating on your own family and giving it all your creativity, all your time, energy, love and care. So if you are pursuing a career, remember that you sacrifice your family and your servitude to God for it, no matter how you slice it.
"For unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God." (Lev 25:55)
Yet if you are allowed to stay at home, there is no slaving away for someone else, but instead, you are allowed to care for your own, for your family, and how much you can do for them ! Not only can you grow a lot of your family's food in your garden, you can also cook for them, sew for them, home school the children, teach them in the way they should go following your husband's lead, and be there for them so that your family may live a godly and healthy life.
Besides, there will be no need to stick grandma or grandpa in some nursing home. Are you aware of the fact that a multi-generational family is God's concept of family, and that everybody, old and young, will profit from it if you follow His word and live under the same roof or on the same premises with your or your husband's aging parents or even grandparents ?
So if you are looking for fulfillment in work, like so many people do nowadays, why does this work have to be for a stranger who ultimately exploits you ? Why not give yourself to your family instead, and live a much more godly and satisfying life this way, free from indentured servitude, free to care for your family in a godly and healthy way.
