Lady Lesson #1: Do's and Don't's

In our introduction, we said that many things secular society suggests as "normal" are in fact inappropriate for a lady, and a girl that is in training to be a lady. In this first lesson, we will present you with a random list of examples of appropriate and inappropriate behavior for ladies, and you can see for yourself which of these might be considered normal in today's society.

  • Ladies speak quietly and don't yell.
  • Ladies speak proper language.
  • Ladies are well educated.
  • Ladies avoid worthless entertainment.
  • Ladies avoid idleness.
  • Ladies do not gossip.
  • Ladies do not get drunk.
  • Ladies do not smoke.
  • Ladies do not sit around slouched, with their legs spread apart.
  • Ladies wear skirts or dresses.
  • Ladies do not wear deep necklines or short skirts.
  • Ladies wear their long hair braided.
  • Ladies do not pick their noses.
  • Ladies use handkerchiefs.
  • Ladies do not entertain visitors unsupervised.
  • Ladies do not go out alone, especially not at night.
  • Ladies socialize with their family, and other ladies.
  • Ladies do not have tattoos.
  • Ladies do not wear provocative make up.
  • Ladies do no go swimming in public places.
  • Ladies can knit, crochet and sew.
  • Ladies eat with silverware.
  • Ladies use napkins.
  • Ladies cook well and healthily.
  • Ladies wear aprons.
  • Ladies keep personal recipe books.
  • Ladies have legible handwriting.
  • Ladies know how to organize a household.
  • Ladies know how to grow a vegetable, herb and fruit garden.
  • Ladies play musical instruments.
  • Ladies enjoy singing.

This list is rather crude, incomplete, and needs specification, but everything you find here is based on biblical principles, if not mentioned straight out. We will elaborate an these and other do's and don't's in the lessons to come in a less general fashion.

Read this list, look around at what kind of woman you see out there every day, and ask yourself which role model is more desirable for yourself and your (future) daughters... and stay tuned for Lady Lesson #2.
